History of Cannabis Instructor:
This course was lead by Arizona cannabis pioneer and activist, Mikel Weisser. In his 30’s, Mikel returned to college to acquire an M.A. from the University of Illinois at Springfield followed by an M.Ed. from Northern Arizona University. He was a middle school teacher before becoming a full-time activist in 2012. Mikel became the Arizona state director of NORML in 2015. Mikel was one of the first few people to complete the Budtending 1010 course through Herbal Risings. Mikel was a long-time advocate for the plant stating his life’s devotion was to reform cannabis laws.
Shortly before taking his position with NORML, Mikel began speaking publicly at Herbal Risings group workshops teaching the history of cannabis.
Credits This seminar was recorded in front of a class of students enrolled in the Herbal Risings Principles & Standards of Patient Care Workshop in Phoenix, Arizona in collaboration with state director of NORML’s Mikel Weisser. Video edited by Safer Arizona’s Dave Wisniewski. Proceeds from this course will go to the Mikel Weisser Legacy Fund.
Prohibition & Legalization History
The course was very revealing about how bad things got during the prohibition of cannabis and picks up at the end with the hope of a legalized society.

very interesting
I found the class to be informative the way the information is broken down by years, and presented different cultures uses and knowledge the influence it applied to the cannabis plant. its amazing how much american politics played into the production of cannabis and how much went into making it illegal I look forward to taking the other offered courses.
