He was a middle school teacher before becoming a full-time activist in 2012. Mikel became the Arizona state director of NORML in 2015. Mikel was one of the first few people to complete the Budtending 1010 course through Herbal Risings. Mikel was a long-time advocate for the plant stating his life’s devotion was to reform cannabis laws.
Shortly before taking his position with NORML, Mikel began speaking publicly at Herbal Risings group workshops teaching the history of cannabis.
